The Dalles man killed in fiery I-84 crash

A man from The Dalles was killed early Sunday morning in a fiery crash on Interstate 84 in Wasco County, Oregon State Police reported.

OSP and other emergency workers responded around 1:45 a.m. to a reported vehicle fire on I-84 near milepost 73, said Lt. Mark Duncan.

The victim was identified as Jason Degus, 25, of The Dalles.

Duncan said Degus was heading east on the highway when his vehicle veered off the right shoulder, struck a highway sign and soon was engulfed in fire.

Emergency crews put out the fire and found Degus, the vehicle’s only occupant, had died, Duncan said,

No other details were immediately available, Duncan said.
