Wyden to hold July 7 town hall in Redmond

KTVZ

The office of Sen. Ron Wyden, D-Ore., announced Thursday he will hold eight town halls in Oregon over the congressional Fourth of July recess, including one on July 7 in Redmond.

Wyden ‘s eight town halls July 1 – July 8 in Polk, Lincoln, Douglas, Linn, Washington, Deschutes, Lane and Yamhill counties will increase to 54 town halls he has held so far in 2017. Since making his commitment to hold annual town halls in each of Oregon’s 36 counties, Wyden has held a total of 835 town halls.

The town halls in Polk, Lincoln, Linn and Yamhill counties will be Wyden ‘s second in 2017 for each of those counties, with this Linn County town hall at the Edward C. Allworth Veterans’ Home in Lebanon having a focus on veterans’ concerns.

The town halls in Douglas, Washington and Deschutes counties will be his third this year in each of those counties, with this Washington County town hall co-hosted by Rep. Suzanne Bonamici. And his Lane County town hall will be his fourth in 2017.

“The Fourth of July is an important reminder of how the Founding Fathers wanted a representative democracy where citizens have every opportunity to talk with elected officials,” Wyden said. “It’s clear from the incredible turnout at my 46 town halls so far in 2017 throughout Oregon that people want to participate in our democracy and express their views on issues such as health care.”
