Portland-area flagger hit, killed by dump truck
HAPPY VALLEY, Ore. (AP) – Authorities say a flagger who was helping direct a dump truck driver died when the truck accidentally backed over him southeast of Portland in Happy Valley.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (https://goo.gl/tiK1rv ) the 71-year-old flagger was helping the driver move a stalled dump truck out of the road Friday afternoon when he was struck.
Clackamas County sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Robbie Nasif says the worker died at the scene.
The driver remained at the scene and an investigation is ongoing.
It’s at least the third crash leading to the death of a worker on an Oregon road since May.
