Forest Service reduces Milli Fire closure area

The fire closure for the area around the 24,000-acre Milli Fire was reduced Friday by the Deschutes National Forest. For many visitors, the most notable change is that Forest Service Road 15 and the Pole Creek Trail and Trailhead are now open.

As of Friday, the following trails and recreation sites are OPEN:

Camp Lake Trail #4074 Demaris Lake Trail #4074.1 Park Meadow Trail #4075 Chush Falls Trail #4080 Whychus Overlook Trail Whychus Creek Trail Sisters Cow Camp Pole Creek Trail #4072 Peterson Ridge Tie Jimerson Loop Trail

The following trails and recreation sites remain CLOSED:

Black Crater Trail #4058 Millican Crater Trail #4066 Scott Pass Trail #4068 North Matthieu Lake Trail #4062 Trout Creek Tie Trail #4067 Metolius Windigo Trail #99 from the junction of Forest Road 1514 to Forest Road 100

Green Lakes Trail #17 is closed from the junction of Pole Creek Trail to the junction of Scott Pass Trail

Millican Crater Trailhead Scott Pass Trailhead Black Crater Trailhead Whispering Pines Horse Camp Lava Camp Lake Campground

Newly opened roads include: Forest Service Roads 15, 1514 and 220. The public should be aware that the Old McKenzie Highway (Oregon Route 242) will remain closed for the foreseeable future.
