Coast searchers recover body of Gold Beach woman
(update: Woman’s body found)
GOLD BEACH, Ore. (AP) – Authorities have recovered the body of a Gold Beach woman who was missing at the coast since apparently being swept out to sea.
Karen Dunlap of Gold Beach vanished early Thursday evening while walking on the beach near the south jetty of the Rogue River. Oregon State Police said it appeared she was swept out to sea by a large wave.
Coast Guard officials called off the search Friday because of hazardous conditions, but a body was soon found in the general area where Dunlap was last seen. A medical examiner confirmed it was the 57-year-old woman.
