Fire causes $200K damage to NW Redmond home

A passer-by spotted smoke from a fire that caused an estimated $200,000 damage to a northwest Redmond home Thursday, officials said.

Redmond Fire and Rescue responded to the reported fire in the 1400 block of Maple Rim Court shortly after noon, Fire Marshal Traci Cooper said.

Crews arrived and found smoke coming from several windows of the unoccupied home, she said. They entered the home and quickly extinguished a fire in the living room.

While the fire was contained to that room, there was significant smoke and heat damage throughout the home, the fire marshal said.

There were no reported injuries, and American Red Cross disaster responders were called in to assist the family with immediate needs.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.

A total of 16 firefighting personnel responded, with three engines. Mutual-aid assistance was provided by Redmond police, Pacific Power and Cascade Natural Gas.
