Four Summit HS principal candidates to meet public

Community members are invited to meet the four finalists for the Summit High School principal position during a forum Monday, Feb. 12 at 4 p.m. in the commons at Summit. Visitors will get a chance to meet the candidates, ask questions and offer feedback.

The four finalists:

Michael Hicks is currently assistant principal at Bend Senior High School, a position he has held for one year. Prior to that, he served as assistant principal at Monta Vista High School in Cupertino, California, a position he held for five years. He also has four years of experience as a dean of students and two years of classroom teaching experience.

Zachary Lauritzen is currently assistant principal at Willamette High School in Eugene, a position he has held for four years. Prior to that, he served as a teacher on special assignment in Corvallis for a year. He also has three additional years of classroom teacher experience.

Michael McDonald is currently assistant principal at Summit High School, a position he has held for 14 years. He is also an adjunct faculty member at Oregon State University – Cascades Campus, a position he has held for five years. Prior to this, he served as a professional practices coordinator for Bend-La Pine Schools. He also has 13 years of classroom teaching experience.

Bradley Shreve is currently principal at Lebanon High School in Lebanon, Oregon, a position he has served in for six years. Prior to that, he served as assistant principal at Ogden Middle School in Oregon City School District for three years; assistant principal at Oregon City High School for four years; and assistant principal at Madras High School for one year. He also has 10 years of classroom teaching experience.

The new principal will begin July 1; current principal Alice DeWittie is retiring.
