Local Alert Weather 0218 PM

KTVZ

Hello everyone!

This morning we woke up to about an inch of snow on the ground. There were scattered snow showers throughout the morning. The National Weather Service has put Central Oregon under a Winter Weather Advisory until 9 a.m. tomorrow. Tonight scattered snow showers will continue. We’re expected to have another inch of snow on the ground by tomorrow morning. Winds are going to stay strong throughout the night and temperatures will remain cold in the low 20’s.

This has been a great weather system for mountain resorts. Mount Hood Meadows had about 15 inches of fresh snow, 16 inches at Timberline, which made their base grow to 98 inches, and 8 inches of fresh snow at Mount Bachelor. This will be a head ache for drivers. Snow showers have been fairly consistent on all mountain roads. Therefore, chains are required on all passes.

Tomorrow morning there’s a slight chance of snow showers. Throughout the afternoon skies will clear up, but temperatures will remain cold in the upper 20’s. Overnight lows will be very cold in the single digits. Tuesday will remain cold with mostly sunny skies.

Thursday a chance of snow showers will return to the region. By Friday temperatures will bounce back around average in the low 40’s. Cloudy skies will stick around for the weekend ahead with more snow showers to return Saturday and Sunday.
