Local Alert Weather – Mon. PM

Happy President’s Day, everyone!

After a cold, fairly calm day for Central Oregon we will see a bitter cold evening once again. Lows will be falling into the single digits and even below zero for some tonight. Skies will become mostly clear by tomorrow morning. Expect icy conditions for the next few days at least. Winds will be fairly light out of the south.

Tomorrow will begin with mostly sunny skies, but we’ll see increasing clouds throughout the day. Daytime highs will be a little warmer than we were today topping out in the low to mid 30s. Our average daytime high is now 48 degrees at the airport in Redmond. Snow flurries will develop across the Cascades and Central Oregon by the afternoon on Tuesday. The next system will be fairly short-lived and will happen overnight into Wednesday.

Snow shower activity will increase overnight delivering more snow to the High Desert. By Wednesday morning Central Oregon can expect anywhere from 1-3″ of snow. The ski resorts can expect another 3-5″ of snow. Wednesday will see decreasing clouds after the snow showers wrap up. Highs will be in the low to mid 30s once again.

By Thursday a few more clouds will roll in and we might see some evening snow showers. A clearing by Friday will bring us some sunshine, but highs will still be a little below average in the lower 40s.
