Mallory named Redmond HS volleyball coach

Redmond School District Athletic Director Kevin Bryant recently announced the hiring of longtime volleyball coach Aaron Mallory as Redmond High School’s new head volleyball coach.

“The Panther volleyball program is in great hands with the addition of Aaron,” Bryant said. “He brings a wealth of experience to the position having played the game for so many years and coaching at both the middle school and high school level across Central Oregon.”

Mallory has coached for volleyball for almost 15 years, with coaching roles at Summit High School in Bend, Culver High School, La Pine High School, Pilot Butte Middle School and Redmond High School as a varsity assistant. In addition, he has coached for a number of local club volleyball programs.

“Coaching is such an amazing experience,” Mallory said. “I enjoy the interaction with young people and helping them grow as players and as people. Seeing a student-athlete develop the mastery of a skill and the confidence that goes with that is truly inspiring.”

Mallory’s major goal for the next season of Panther Volleyball is to build the belief system in his players, he explained. “I believe that if our players know and understand that our coaching staff has confidence in their abilities to compete, then they will play more freely and confidently, which will in turn translate to playing smarter and stronger. Great results will follow great performances.”

Mallory has a full schedule ahead of him that includes meeting with students and parents, participating in open gyms for the remainder of spring, hiring assistants and reviewing the upcoming fall schedule.

“We’re looking forward to success with Aaron as head coach,” Bryant said. “The previous coaching staff worked very hard to strengthen the ability and fitness of our players and Aaron will provide some much needed continuity and experience to the role that can take them to the next level.” Mallory takes over for Kellie Scholl, who coached the team the past two seasons.
