More wet wintry conditions ahead, strong winds
Good Tuesday morning!
More wintry conditions are on the horizon, with a Winter Weather Advisory going into effect for Central Oregon today at 4pm.
Use extra caution on the roads, especially in the mountain passes. Moderate to heavy snow, combined with strong winds, will reduce visibility and create challenging travel conditions.
Today will be mostly cloudy, with rain and snow expected at times. Winds will be picking up later in the day which could lead to patchy blowing snow, particularly in Southern Deschutes County.
It's definitely going to feel colder with those stronger winds. A High Wind Warning will go into effect at 4pm, lasting through Wednesday morning. South to southeast winds of 30 to 40 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 60 mph.
These powerful winds may cause damage, potentially blowing down trees and power lines. Widespread outages are a possibility. It's a good idea to bring in or tie down loose objects in the yard.
Please drive carefully and dress warm!
