Baby Killed, 11 Injured in Warm Springs Crash

A single-vehicle crash Friday afternoon on the Warm Springs Indian Reservation killed a 7-month-old baby girl and injured 11 other occupants, including six children, some seriously, authorities said Saturday.

Warm Springs police got a report around 1:30 p.m. Friday of the crash on Trout Lake Road, said Stan Suenega, general manager of the tribes? public safety branch.

?The crash resulted in the death of a 7-month-old female and numerous other serious injuries,? Suenega said in a news release that listed none of the victims? names, ages or hometowns.

The injured were taken to Mountain View Hospital in Madras and St. Charles Medical Centers in Bend and Redmond, some by AirLink and Life Flight helicopters, Suenega said.

Warm Springs police and fire medics also were assisted at the scene by Jefferson County EMS, he added.

Oregon State Police crash reconstruction investigators from Madras and The Dalles, along with the FBI, are assisting tribal police with the investigation, Suenega said.

?Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash,? the public safety manager concluded.
