Hundreds Run in Bend to Help Kids, CASA
Hundreds of people hit the ground running at Bend’s Riverbend Park Sunday morning, all for a great cause.
It was CASA’s (Court Appointed Special Advocates) fifth annual “Light of Hope” race, a run to raise money and awareness for children who are unable to live safely at home.
Nearly 250 people of all ages took part in the 5K and 10K races, all wanting to send the same message.
“Give kids who don’t have a voice a voice,” said Bend resident Rachel Miller. “You know, that’s going to help protect them and keep them safe. and to me, that’s just really important — I want to keep my kids safe.”
Many local youngsters took part in Sunday’s run. An 8-year-old even placed third in the 5K. Jack Strang ran the 3.1 miles in 21 minutes and 25 seconds.
