Forest Service item sales to halt temporarily

Beginning late Wednesday afternoon, Forest Service offices in Central Oregon temporarily will stop selling any items, including maps, recreation passes and firewood permits to the public until Thursday morning.

Beginning at NOON Tuesday, all transactions at Forest Service offices will be suspended until offices reopen on Thursday, November 1.

The brief suspension of sales will allow the Forest Service’s Point of Sale System to transition to a new accounting system.

During the brief suspension of sales, local vendors who sell firewood permits. maps and recreation passes will continue to sell these items. For a list of firewood permit vendors please visit www.fs.sda.gov/centraloregon . Recreation passes and maps are available in Central Oregon from vendors at the following locations:
