Sisters stores join in Small Business Saturday
Small business owners geared up for their own Black Friday on Saturday. The national campaign called Small Business Saturday urged people to shop locally.
NewsChannel 21 visited Sisters Cascade of Gifts, otherwise known to Sisters residents as “the fudge shop.”
The owner says last year was like a party and this year, several customers already had come in to show their support.
This time of the year can be especially slow for the store, so having a day like Saturday’s event helps them.
“During the summer, we get a lot of tourists, and this is a highway — they come through, and we appreciate all the business,” said Virginia Patskowski.
“We are busy all the time in the summer,” she said, “but when it comes to the winter when our season is slow, then we rely on the locals. And so we appreciate them, we give discounts and once they come in and try our fudge, they become regulars.”
The store offers 21 flavors of fudge every day, including pumpkin and even Snickers flavors.
The most popular though: the normal dark chocolate with nuts.
And speaking of local, the store has been around for the past 30 years.
