Students help clean up seniors’ yards

KTVZ

Visiting Angels has partnered with Central Oregon Council on Aging, Partners In Care and area students to provide yard clean-up to senior citizens in need in our community.

On November 17th, Visiting Angels employees, La Pine ROTC, Bend High School students and Central Oregon Community College students volunteered their time to provide assistance to Senior Citizens.

The group gathered in the Bend High School parking lot and divided into 2 groups to clean up over 20 homes in Central Oregon. The services ranged from raking leaves/pine needles, cleaning gutters, pulling weeds, sweeping and removing yard debris.

On Saturday, December 1st another crew of volunteers, including the Bend High Girls Basketball team will meet again in the parking lot of the Bend High School at 8:30am for another day of service.

This is the first year this service project has taken place, and Visiting Angels will continue to partner with local community groups to make this an annual event to support our local senior citizens.

Special thanks to WT Equipment Rental, Knott Landfill and A Cut Above Professional Lawn Care for their donations and use of equipment.

For more information if you are a senior citizen or have a disability and would benefit from this service, please call Visiting Angels at 541-617-3868 to be placed on the schedule for the December 1st clean-up day.
