Mt. Bachelor expands charity programs

KTVZ

Mt. Bachelor announced Wednesday the details on its charity programs this winter, including the annual Charity Ski Weeks, Ski for Schools, and the recently announced ‘4 Central Oregon’ OSU-Cascades campus expansion campaign.

To date, Mt. Bachelor has generated $475,825 over the past seven seasons for Central Oregon non-profit organizations through its local fundraising efforts.

Mt. Bachelor is committed to supporting community non-profit organizations with cash donations through charity programs aligned with its core values, focusing on the environment, kids, and families in need.

Charity Ski Weeks
Introduced in 2009, Charity Ski Weeks continues supporting local beneficiaries through this one-of-a-kind fundraising program. By providing lift ticket vouchers to Charity Week partners that can be redeemed for $25 full day lift tickets, Mt. Bachelor offers a great deal for local skiers and riders while generating cash contributions with 100 percent of the proceeds donated directly to the issuing non-profit organization. Vouchers are valid midweek, during two-week sessions scheduled for January 7-11 and 14-18, as well as April 8-12 and 22-26, 2013.

This season’s Charity Week beneficiary partners include The Environmental Center, Big Brothers Big Sisters, The United Way, MBSEF, Oregon Adaptive Sports, Sparrow Clubs, the Boys and Girls Club, and new addition Heart of Oregon Corps.

Ski for Schools
In addition to Charity Ski Weeks, Mt. Bachelor also contributes 1,500 $25 charity ticket vouchers to the Bend/La Pine and Redmond Education Foundation through the popular “Ski for Schools” program, scheduled for Monday-Thursday, November 26-29, and December 3-6, 2012. Ski for Schools tickets are on sale now and are available at area retailers, click here for the complete list. Mt. Bachelor has donated $150,000 to the Education Foundation through Ski for Schools since 2005.

OSU-Cascades 4 Central Oregon Fundraising Initiative
Mt. Bachelor has also committed $250,000 to support Oregon State University-Cascades’ goal of becoming a comprehensive, four-year branch campus of OSU with its own Bend campus.

Similar to Charity Ski Weeks and Ski for Schools, Mt. Bachelor will sell a limited quantity of $49 one-day lift tickets valid all season, excluding holidays. One hundred percent of the proceeds from these ticket sales, $50,000 per year over the next five years, will be contributed to the initiative. Details and sales information on ticket sales are available online at mtbachelor.com.

“We are very proud of the work local charities do on behalf of our community to make Bend and Central Oregon a better place to live and work for all our residents.” said Mt. Bachelor President and General Manager Dave Rathbun. “Giving back to our community is a long-standing tradition of Mt. Bachelor and we look forward to maximizing our contribution through these charity programs again this winter.”
