First St. Rapids Park closing for bridge construction

KTVZ

Beginning Monday, First Street Rapids Park in northwest Bend will temporarily close for construction and installation of a new pedestrian bridge across the Deschutes River. The park spans both sides of the river north of Portland Avenue.

The closure will affect the park’s west side at the end of NW First St. and the eastside at the end of NW Revere. The Deschutes River Trail which goes through the park will be closed on the east side of the river at NW Linster Place and all points north. The west side Deschutes River Trail will remain open.

The closure is expected to last approximately two months, with an anticipated park re-opening in mid-May.

More information can be found on the district’s website at www.bendparksandrec.org.

BPRD appreciates the community’s patience during the project. Questions regarding the construction project should be directed to Mark Ellington, BPRD Facilities & Construction Manager, at (541) 706-6204 or mark@bendparksandrec.org.
