Meyer Memorial Trust makes C. Oregon grants

At the June program meeting, Meyer Memorial Trust’s board of trustees awarded four grants worth $90,000 to nonprofit organizations in Central Oregon.

Three of the grants were made in the Grassroots Grants program, which awards grants up to $40,000, usually to smaller organizations. The remaining award – $20,000 to Jefferson County Habitat for Humanity – was one of five Responsive Grants made to Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Oregon to help their work in providing affordable housing.

These grants bring the total amount awarded in Central Oregon since Meyer Memorial Trust began operating in 1982 to more than $20 million.

Meyer Memorial Trust is one of the largest private foundations in Oregon, with assets of approximately $722 million. The Board of Trustees—which includes Debbie Craig, John Emrick, Orcilia Ziga Forbes, George Puentes and Charles Willhoite—meets monthly to make grants.

To help build a new affordable three-bedroom home in Madras

Angel Flight West, Bend

Awarded: $10,000

To support humanitarian air transportation for Oregonians who need urgent medical and emergency help

Awarded: $35,000

To expand children’s dental clinic services

Sisters Kiwanis Community Service Foundation, Sisters

Awarded: $25,000

To help build a food bank to serve people experiencing poverty in Central Oregon
