KTVZ

Deschutes County Circuit Court Judge Barbara Haslinger has announced that she will retire from the bench prior to the expiration of her current six-year term of office that ends on January 6, 2015.

She will continue to serve through the primary election in May, Wednesday’s announcement said.

Haslinger was appointed to the bench and first sworn into office in January of 1990. She was subsequently elected to four consecutive six-year terms.

Throughout her judicial career, Judge Haslinger has served on a number of committees and boards including the Judicial Education Committee and the Judicial Fitness and Disability Commission. Most recently, she served on a committee that revised and updated the Oregon rules of Judicial Ethics.

“Judge Haslinger would like to thank the voters of Deschutes County for giving her the opportunity to serve the public for the past 23 years,” the announcement stated.
