SW Redmond 3-car crash injures driver
One driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a three-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon in southwest Redmond, Deschutes County sheriff’s deputies said.
Deputies were dispatched around 3:50 p.m. to the crash at the intersection of SW Helmholtz Way and Wickiup Avenue, said Sgt. Kevin Dizney.
An investigation found that a gold 2002 Ford Focus, driven by Koeddy Laemmle, 22, of Redmond, was heading south on Helmholtz when he tried to make a left turn onto eastbound Wickiup. Laemmle did not yield the right of way to a white 2004 Jeep Wrangler driven by Nancy Robinson, 55 and also of Redmond, who was heading north, Dizney said.
As the Focus turned into the Jeep’s path, the Jeep struck the rear end of the Focus, knocking it into a 2002 Ford Escape that was stopped at the stop sign for westbound Wickiup, Dizney said. The Escape was being driven by Emily Koch, 18, also of Redmond.
Laemmle was taken to St. Charles-Redmond with non-life-threatening injuries, Dizney said.
The crash blocked both lanes of Wickiup east of Helmholtz, as well as the northbound lane of Helmholtz, for about 40 minutes, until tow truck could clear the roadway. Redmond police and firefighters provided assistance at the crash scene, Dizney said.
