C.O. police make 25 DUII arrests over holidays

Central Oregon law enforcement agencies made 25 DUII arrests during their three-week High Visibility Enforcement campaign, dedicated to DUII enforcement occurring over the Christmas/New Year’s Holiday.

The use of grant-funded overtime programs enables law enforcement agencies to increase the number of officers on patrol in our area and deploy them at times and locations where a high incidence of DUII-related traffic accidents occur.

The results of the latest HVE campaign, Dec. 13, 2013 through Jan. 2, 2014, are listed below.

Two Bend Police Department officers worked a total of 10 hours of grant-funded overtime focusing on DUII enforcement, resulting in two DUII arrests and 1 felony arrest. Bend PD also dedicated over 82 hours of straight time DUII enforcement to the HVE effort.

The Oregon State Police Bend Area Command office made eight DUII arrests and is investigating a fatal crash which may be alcohol-related.

The Redmond Police Department conducted 14 DUII arrests, using both grant-funded and straight-time enforcement.

Two Prineville Police Department officers dedicated eight hours towards DUII enforcement, resulting in one DUII arrest.
