Bend Park & Rec seeks teen summer volunteers

Bend Park & Recreation District has many opportunities for teenage volunteers to help with youth recreation, fitness and swimming programs this summer.
Volunteers help from mid-June through Labor Day with such opportunities as the Junior Lifeguard and Swim Instructor Aide programs at Juniper Swim & Fitness Center, plus day camps, science, art, theater, cooking, fitness, nature and adventure activities for children. Programs are located at various facilities and parks around Bend.
Volunteers assist staff with program activities and interact with participants, while learning job related skills and gaining experience working with younger children. Teen volunteers must enjoy working with youth, be willing to get involved and take initiative and be able to create a positive, encouraging environment for all participants.
Age requirement, necessary training and time commitment varies by program. Minimum age for volunteers is 12 years old.
Teens can apply to volunteer opportunities through the district’s online registration site at www.bendparksandrec.org. Volunteer application and criminal history background check (for volunteers 18 years and older) are required and a form is available online.
