Cougar sighting reported west of Sisters
Deschutes County 911 dispatchers received a report Thursday morning of a cougar sighting west of the Crossroads subdivision, west of Sisters, but sheriff’s deputies said they were unable to find any signs of the animal.
The report came in around 10:45 a.m., said Deputy Liam Klatt.
“During this time of year, as the snows push game down to lower elevations, the likelihood of chance encounters with wildlife near populated areas increases,” Klatt said in a news release.
The sheriff’s office reminded residents living near national forests and in other rural areas to “exercise appropriate caution” when venturing outdoors.
