Bend teen ski racer Biskup wins title at XC Jr. Nationals

Sam Biskup of Bend has claimed his first national title at the 2015 Junior XC National Championships for the Male U16 category in the freestyle sprint races being held at the Auburn Ski Club in Truckee, CA.

The 15-year-old Nordic skier trains and competes with the Bend Endurance Academy and is one of 11 athletes from Bend representing the Pacific Northwest Ski association at this year’s national event.

Biskup’s first-place finish marks the third national title this year for the Bend Endurance Academy Nordic program.

His podium-topping finish adds to the two sprint titles from adult nationals this past January from Dakota Blackhorse-von Jess who is currently in Norway racing for the US Ski Team.

The junior national event continues in Truckee through Saturday. Races still to come for the Bend athletes include the 5K/10K Freestyle, 5K/10K/15K Classic, and the 3x3K/3x5K Classic Relay. Results, live streaming, and schedules of all events can be found at http://xcjuniornationals2015.net/
