Interim Police Chief Les Stiles announced recently that, effective March 24th, Community Service Officer James Young has been promoted to the position of Police Officer with the Prineville Police Department.

Officer Young has been with the Prineville Police Department for almost three years. In his capacity as a CSO Young was responsible for code enforcement and traffic control.

“James’ seriousness about his career, coupled with his devotion to the community of Prineville, has shown me that he’s ready to take the next step. I’m very proud of him,” said Chief Stiles.

Officer Young is ready and excited to take on new responsibilities.

“My goal has always been to learn everything I could about our department so that, when the time is right, I could move to the next level. I’m very excited to be able to serve the community in my new role,” said Officer Young.

Officer Young will soon be starting the state-required Field Training Evaluation Program which is administered by the Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) Academy. Seventeen weeks long, this training is required for all State of Oregon police officers, firefighters and dispatchers.
