KTVZ

Burgess Road will be closed at the junction with Hwy 97from May 4-7 for a Highway 97 railroad crossing replacement project being done by BNSF Railway, officials said Wednesday.

The Burgess Road closure is part of the Highway 97 detour that will be using the temporary bypass road ODOT has built over the railroad tracks alongsidethe existing highway.

Highway 97 traffic will be controlled by flaggers using the temporary bypass road for the duration of the project.

Traffic can access Burgess Road as far east as Skidgel Road, and the entrance to the Wickiup Junction Store .

Access on or off of Highway 97 onto Burgess will be closed for the duration of the project. The traffic control and closure is being coordinated by ODOT in La Pine.

It’s one of two major railroad crossing projects planned next month that will close east-west thoroughfares in Deschutes County. Baker Road will be closed May 11-13 at Deschutes River Woods south of Bend for similar work.
