The “kidRunner” isn’t the average stroller. It aims to making running easier, and more comfortable for parents while running with children.

“After we had our first child and took our first run, we immediately realized that running with kids is an awkward, hard experience,” founder and partner Will Warne said.

After five years of research and development, the kidRunner team partnered with Composite Approach in Bend to create a prototype to take to market.

“Every step of the way, I’ve been surprised by the collaboration, the open-mindedness, the energy and the talent,” Warne said. “Composite Approach is a great example of that.”

kidRunner has brought in ambassadors to test and help bring the product to a bigger market.

Max King is an ambassador and is part of the engineering team at kidRunner, King an accomplished runner who has won ultramarathons, marathons, national and world championships.

“It has been awesome to have everything in Bend and really do the design work and the tweaking of the design and prototyping be around here,” King said.

kidRunner recently launched a Kickstarter campaign to build 15 kidRunners for ambassadors. In August, the team hopes to be able to open for orders.
