Salem driver unhurt, cited in Highway 22 crash

KTVZ

A Salem man escaped injury but was cited for careless driving after a crash Sunday afternoon on state Highway 22 west of Santiam Junction, Oregon State Police reported.

Troopers responded around 3:15 p.m. to the single-vehicle crash near milepost 75, five miles west of the junction said OSP Lt. Bill Fugate.

OSP said Blake White, 30, of Salem was at the wheel of a 2007 Toyota Tundra heading west when it left the rainy roadway and crashed down a steep embankment, Fugate said. Airbags deployed in the crash.

Fatigue appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, according to Fugate, who noted poor driving conditions with wet roads, high winds and heavy traffic.
