Missing Sandy trucker found dead at Brothers rest area
A Sandy truck driver reported missing Tuesday afternoon was found deceased a short time later at the Brothers Oasis Rest Area on U.S. Highway 20, about 40 miles southeast of Bend, Oregon State Police said.
Around 2:45 p.m., police in Sandy, east of Portland, took a missing-person report of an overdue truck driver, Bret Anderson, 56, and sent a police bulletin to various police agencies to be on the lookout for him, said OSP Lt. Steve Mitchell.
A short time later, a concerned citizen in the Brothers area called OSP dispatch to report a semi-truck and trailer that had been parked at the Brothers Oasis Rest Area since last Friday and had not moved.
Around 4:45 p.m., an OSP trooper arrived at the rest area and found the rig. The trooper made intro to the cab and found Anderson’s body in the sleeper berth, Mitchell said. Areal first responders pronounced ANDERSON dead at the scene.
OSP troopers, assisted by the Deschutes County Medical Examiner’s Office, “believe based on evidence at the scene that Anderson died of natural causes and there is no foul play suspected,” Mitchell said in a news release.
OSP troopers from the Bend Area Command are leading the investigation.
