Redmond hires new building official

Aaron Yuma will start as Redmond’s new Building Official next Tuesday, officials announced Friday.

Aaron brings more than 23 years of Building Official experience to Redmond – 15 years in Douglas County and eight years with the City of Roseburg. His most recent work experience is with the State of Oregon Building Codes Division.

“We are thrilled to have attracted someone with the demonstrable professional knowledge and experience that Aaron has join our City team. I look forward to working with Aaron and supporting him as he takes what is currently a great Building Division and makes it one of the best in the State of Oregon,” enthused Heather Richards, Community Development Director for the City of Redmond.

“Aaron shares the same values that are the foundation of our programs – customer service, integrity, creativity and partnership. I am confident that our customers will enjoy working with him and the rest of the building team.”

Aaron will be replacing Gary Lampella, who served as the City of Redmond’s Building Official for nine years and recently relocated to Washington DC to work for the National Association of Home Builders.

“I am excited to join Redmond’sCommunity Development team. Redmond’s business-friendly, forward-thinking approach to economic development was a big draw for me. I look forward to collaborating with builders, community members, business owners,developers and staff to ensure a safe built environment for the City of Redmond now and in the future,” said Yuma.
