Redmond Airport taxi operators prep for 3-week closure
The Redmond Airport’s three-week closure that begins Monday is having wide-ranging impacts, including effects cab companies, as travelers will chose different options to commute to their destination.
Coiled Cabs drivers said Thursday they will see their meters running less because of the closure.
“Yes, it will hurt us definitely,” said driver David Line. “Being a new company, we’re a little worried. We’ll go through it.”
Line has been working for Coiled Cabs for several month now, and he depends on people coming and going to the airport for business or vacation.
“A lot of our business at the airport is a lot of business people flying in from Portland, Washington and California, just for a few days,” Line said.
The cab company plans to change some of their routes while the closure is in effect.
Other drivers are planning to go out of town during the construction.
The drivers said they are not too worried, because they expect the airport to be very busy during the summer months.
The closure will begin on Monday and is expected to end by May 22.
Officials are advising travelers to plan accordingly around the closure.
