Opportunity Foundation director earns honor
Seth Johnson, executive director of the Opportunity Foundation of Central Oregon, was awarded the “Shaping the Future” Award by the Oregon Resource Association at their quarterly meeting in Klamath Falls onJuly 14.
The award is given to the person who has taken a leadership role in advocating and moving the agenda forward at the local and state level for people with diverse abilities. Johnson was nominated for this award by members of his senior staff, who noted his passion and determination in seeing that all individuals with developmental disabilities have the same opportunities in life as those who face fewer challenges.
In just three short years as executive director, Seth has successfully guided the Opportunity Foundation during a time when monumental changes were occurring at the federal and state levels in funding, programming and services.
He integrated himself in a variety of roles to promote understanding and inclusion for individuals with disabilities.
Some of Johnson’s accomplishments include serving on the Governor’s Employment First Stakeholder Committee, ORA Board Member, and as a member of the Deschutes County Mental Health Advisory Board. In 2013, the Opportunity Foundation was named Business of the Year by the Redmond Chamber of Commerce, and the following year Seth was a recipient of the Cascade Business News “Accomplished Under Forty” award.
