Deschutes DA’s office launches crime prevention survey

The Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office is asking residents to share their views on crime and public safety.

County residents are invited to take an online survey, which is available at .

The survey is part of a larger effort being spearheaded by the DA’s community-based advisory panel, DeschutesSafe, to analyze, assess and supplement current crime prevention programs.

“Community feedback is a very valuable part of our crime prevention efforts,” said District Attorney John Hummel. “This is just one of many tools that DeschutesSafe partners are using in our efforts to make Deschutes County an even safer place to live.”

The survey, which will take about 15-20 minutes to complete and was developed in coordination with Portland State University, is intended to provide insight on community-specific perceptions on crime.

In September, an invitation to take the survey was mailed to 10,000 households in Deschutes County. Now, in an effort to gather even more feedback, the DA’s Office has opened the survey to all residents.

The District Attorney’s Office will also be holding community meetings to discuss survey results and to gather additional community feedback. Meetings are currently scheduled to be held:
