Portland Satanic Temple delays start of after-school club
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The Portland Chapter of The Satanic Temple has pushed back the start date of its after-school program at a Portland Elementary School.
The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (http://bit.ly/2e0cbtX ) that the temple’s “After School Satan Club” had been set to start Wednesday at Portland Elementary School with an open house for parents, students, teachers and staff. But the group is postponing the event until an unspecified day in November.
One of the temple’s leaders, Finn Rezz, says the after-school program will focus on “science and rational thinking.”
The club is a direct response to the Christian Good News Club, a “Bible-centered” after-school program “whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.”
