Prineville 19-year-old injured in Highway 26 crash

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in a rollover crash Tuesday night on Highway 26 in Prineville that sent a 19-year-old Prineville resident to the hospital, Crook County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies and Prineville police officers responded shortly after 8 p.m. to the reported injury crash near milepost 21, said Deputy Javier Sanchez.

They arrived to find a 2003 Mitsubishi Outlander off the south side of Highway 26, Sanchez said.

An investigation determined the car driven by Adriana Wood was heading east on the highway when it left the south side of the road apparently rolled over and came to rest in an irrigation canal.

Sanchez said Wood, who was alone in the car, sustained “moderate injuries” and was taken to St. Charles Prineville.

While “alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash,” the deputy said the investigation was ongoing and no citations had been issued at this time.

Online court records indicate Wood was arrested Jan. 25 on a misdemeanor DUII charge and a violation of possessing an alcoholic beverage under the age of 21.
