Deschutes deputy DA earns DUII prosecution honor
The Oregon DUII Multi-Disciplinary Training Task Force has selected Deschutes County Deputy District Attorney Kari Hathorn as the 2016 DUII Prosecutor of the Year.
The task force is a non-profit organization that provides training and consultation to state, local, community and professional partners involved in the deterrence of impaired driving.
Hathorn began her legal career in 2005 as a prosecutor in Washington State. She has been a prosecutor in Deschutes County since 2010.
Hathorn brings a passion for traffic safety, enthusiasm and hard work to the prosecution of DUII cases, the DA’s office said. Hathorn is an instructor for law enforcement officers and forensic scientists at both state and national training conferences.
“Local law enforcement prioritizes making our streets safe for residents and tourists,” said District Attorney John Hummel. “Having Kari Hathorn on our prosecution team ensures that when impaired driving suspects end up in court they will be held accountable. I’m proud of Kari for winning this award and commend the Task Force for selecting her.”
