Two Calif. men arrested in Bend motel-room drug raid
Two California men were arrested in a police and SWAT team raid on a southeast Bend motel room late Thursday night, one on charges of selling cocaine at various locations around the city, police said.
Bend police received information earlier this week of drug activity involving a Silver Jeep Cherokee with California license plates, said Sgt. Devin Lewis. Detectives identified the vehicle and began an investigation, assisted by the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team and Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Street Crimes Unit, that found Lloyd Curtis Brice was selling cocaine at various locations around Bend, he said.
Shortly before 11:30 p.m. Thursday, Bend police detectives, assisted by the Central Oregon Emergency Response Team (CERT Team) and CODE Team, executed a search warrant on a room at the Budget Inn at 1300 SE Third Street, Lewis said.
During the raid, police seized more than three ounces of cocaine, $3,600 in cash, scales and packaging material.
Four people were in the motel room at the time of the raid and two, Lloyd Brice and Maxwell Spangner, both 28-year-old California residents, were arrested. The other two occupants of the motel room were interviewed and released, Lewis said.
Both men were booked into the Deschutes County Jail and released around 9 a.m. Friday. Brice was charged with drug possession, delivery and manufacture. He was released after posting 10 percent of his $40,000 bail. Spangner was charged with frequenting a place where drugs are used, and was released after posting 10 percent of $5,000 bail, officials said.
