KTVZ

Redmond firefighters put out a blaze late Friday afternoon that destroyed a motor home used as a residence at a transient camp east of the city, officials said.

Redmond Fire & Rescue crews were called shortly before 5 p.m. to the fire on Central Oregon Irrigation District property at Northeast Ninth Street and Highway 126 E, said Battalion Chief Jeff Puller.

They arrived to find the motor home engulfed in flames and the fire spreading to several juniper trees.

Crews put out the fire and overhauled the scene, Puller said, adding that no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was under investigation. Losses to building and contents were estimated at $4,000.

Mutual-aid assistance was provided by the BLM, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and Redmond Police Department.
