Portland schools superintendent pick falls through

KTVZ

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) – The finalist to become superintendent of Oregon’s largest school district will not be taking the position, which could potentially lead to the district not having a leader next year.

The Oregonian/OregonLive reports (http://bit.ly/2pebccT ) Portland Public Schools chairman Tom Koehler had said Thursday the search fell apart because the board and Donyall Dickey reached a mutual understanding that “expectations for the job were not in complete alignment.”

Dickey is currently the chief of schools and academics for Atlanta Public Schools.

Board members had said Thursday they were highly confident they made the right decision to not hire him.

Koehler specifically cited a report the board received. He would not disclose its contents, but described it as the culmination of the vetting process.
