A 92-year-old Bend man was killed Saturday afternoon when he ran a stop sign and his car was struck by a pickup and camper at the intersection of U.S. Highway 20 and Cooley Road, Oregon State Police reported Sunday.

First-responders were called to the crash around 2:30 p.m. Saturday. An investigation determined Donald Grosh was at the wheel of a silver 2007 Subaru Outback heading south on Cooley Road, said OSP Lt. Cari Boyd.

Grosh failed to stop at a stop sign before entering the highway, where his Subaru was hit on the driver’s side by a 2011 Dodge pickup with top RV camper, driven by Randall Pelcher, 66, of Bishop, California, Boyd said.

Grosh was taken by ambulance to St. Charles Bend, where he died, the lieutenant said.

Pelcher and his passenger, Lori Burk-Pelcher, 58, also of Bishop, California, were not hurt in the crash, which blocked the highway for hours.

OSP was assisted at the scene by the Bend police and fire departments, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
