A 19-year-old man was arrested Thursday on attempted murder and other charges in the stabbing of his father at their southeast Bend home, police said.

Officers responded to the 21000 block of Woodhaven Avenue around 8:20 a.m. after the victim, Anthony King, 57, called Deschutes County 911 to report he had been stabbed in the back by his son, Ian Anthony King, 19, who lived at the same address, said Lt. Clint Burleigh.

The father left the home to await the arrival of police, Burleigh said. After officers arrived, he was treated by Bend Fire and Rescue medics for serious but non-life-threatening injuries. He later was taken by his wife to St. Charles Bend for further medical treatment.

Meanwhile, police officers and detectives were trying to contact Ian King, who was inside the home and did not initially comply with officers’ requests to come out, Burleigh said.

After about five minutes of negotiations, police were able to convince the 19-year-old to come out and he was taken into custody without incident. He was taken to the Bend police headquarters as the investigation continued.

Based on information gathered by police, Ian King was taken to the county jail and lodged on charges of attempted murder, second-degree assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Jail records showed he was being held Friday on $275,000 bail.
