Madras launches community-wide survey

The city of Madras is distributing a community-wide survey over the next few days, by mail as well as online, city officials said Thursday.
Here’s the city’s news release announcing the survey:
Understanding the needs and desires of a community is critical to helping staff and its local governing body focus their efforts on things that matter to their constituency.
In that regard, the City of Madras is conducting a Citizen Input Survey that will be arriving in mailboxes across the Madras area beginning Friday.
Sara Puddy, HR and administrative manager with the city, stated, “This survey is different than anything we’ve done before in that it seeks to understand how people ‘feel’ about living and doing business in Madras. This survey provides a platform for our community members to be heard and have that voice directed back to their elected officials.”
The three-page survey is being mailed out in English with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to increase the response rate. Spanish copies are available by calling the city.
In addition, the survey is available online from the city’s website at www.ci.madras.or.us/community/page/citizen-satisfaction-surveys.
“We’ve tried to offer a couple of options recognizing the varying audiences of our community,” saidLysa Vattimo, a communications apecialist who also helped develop the survey.
Results from the survey will help the city determine future focus of economic development, city services, downtown activities, and ways to effectively communicate with citizens and people interested in improving Madras as a place to live, work, and play.
“Our goal is to be a community where our residents and business owners can thrive and grow, so Madras community, please take the time to let your voices be heard through this survey,” said Mayor Royce Embanks. “We are listening.”
