DCSO reports more DUII Super Bowl weekend arrests
Central Oregon law enforcement agencies were busy as usual during Super Bowl weekend.
Deschutes County Sheriff’s Sgt. William Bailey told NewsChannel 21 on Monday that his agency saw more calls this weekend than many Central Oregon agencies.
The sheriff’s office arrested nine people for DUIIs, and most of those arrests happened on Saturday night into Sunday.
The sheriff’s office said the number of DUII arrests were up compared to Super Bowl weekend last year, when the agency arrested four people for DUII.
Redmond police told NewsChannel 21 they had no DUII arrests, but did assist with three DUII drug evaluations for other agencies.
Bend police made three arrests on Super Bowl Sunday, compared to one arrest last year.
“Pretty average of number of calls, honestly, just for the day, typical domestics and DUII, that kind of thing — nothing out of the ordinary, as far as numbers,” police Sgt. Tom Pine said. “We certainly have an increase in call volume near the end of the Super Bowl game, reported lot of folks on the road, traffic heavier than normal, that kind of thing.”
