Local Alert Weather, Fri. AM, 2.23.18

KTVZ

Good Friday Morning, Everyone…

This was one clear and cold morning! Every location got down into single digits and below. La Pine hit -12 and one viewer sent a pic of their weather station at -15. From there we will see thermometers rise to the low to mid 30’s for daytime highs…still well below average. Southerly breezes will be gentle at 5-10 mph. Watch the clouds increase through the day and deliver some snow showers going into tonight.

The chance of snowfall will increase tonight and it won’t be quite as cold. Lows will be in the mid 20’s and breezes will stay gentle out of the south.

This will be a very potent winter storm that presses in and it will unleash some of the heaviest snowfall we have seen in the Cascades so far this year…just what the resorts are looking for, but driving conditions in the mountains will worsen quickly beginning tonight. Expect to see 25-42″ of fresh snow in the mountains by Sunday night.

The High Desert will see a mix of snow and rain through the weekend. This will break a bit Sunday night, but we will live with a chance of mixed showers right through next week.

HAVE A SPARKLING DAY IN CENTRAL OREGON!
