Bend 4th-fastest growing U.S. city, personal finance site says

Bend is the fourth-fastest growing city in the U.S. this year, according to a ranking issued Monday by the personal-finance website WalletHub, based on a study that looked at a variety of factors.

With the Census Bureau reporting that the South held eight of the 15 cities with the largest population gains in 2017, WalletHub released its report on 2018’s Fastest-Growing Cities in America.

To determine where the most rapid local economic growth occurred over a period of seven years, WalletHub compared 515 U.S. cities across 15 key metrics. The data set ranges from population growth to college-educated population growth to unemployment rate decrease. In addition, they produced a separate ranking by city size.

13 th – Population Growth 21 st – Median Household Income Growth 1 st – Job Growth 239 th – Poverty Rate Decrease 8 th – Regional GDP Growth 78 th – Unemployment Rate Decrease 17 th – Growth in Number of Businesses 144 th – Working-Age Population Growth 24 th – Median House Price Growth

Bend ranks 4 th overall and 2 nd in terms of small-city growth, the company said.
