KTVZ

Investigators have concluded that a 34-year-old Deschutes County man whose body was found in a downtown Bend parking lot nearly two weeks ago died by suicide, police said Saturday.

An officer responded shortly before 3 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16 to the report of a person found on the ground at a parking lot on the southeast corner of Northwest Newport Avenue and Wall Street, officers said. A community member had found the person, who was later found to have died,

It was determined early in the investigation that there was no threat to the community, Lt. Clint Burleigh said.

An extensive investigation, including several items of evidence, has determined the man died by suicide, Burleigh said Saturday, adding that no other information will be released on the matter.
