Bend police on Thursday released the name of a man who was found dead in the snowy parking lot of St. Charles Bend on Tuesday night by police who had been called to a dispute at a nearby home.

He was identified as Michael Shawn Rupp, 45. The cause of death remains under investigation, Lt. Jason Maniscalco said.

Police responded around 8:45 p.m. Tuesday o a reported dispute at an address in the 1700 block of Northeast Larado Way, Maniscalco said.

Officers contacted several people at the scene who advised one of the people involved had walked away toward their motor home, parked in the east parking lot at the hospital, across 27th Street to the west, Maniscalco said.

Officers located the parked motor home in the lot and followed shoe tracks a short distance, finding Rupp’s body on the ground, the lieutenant said.

The cause of death is under investigation by Bend police detectives, assisted by the Oregon State Police Crime Lab, Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office and medical examiner, Maniscalco said.
