Used oil tanker overturns, spills, snarls I-5 traffic
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) – An oil tanker has overturned on Interstate 5 south of Olympia, causing travel delays before the Fourth of July holiday.
Authorities say the tanker was hauling 4,000 gallons of used motor oil when it overturned around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Seattlepi.com reports the leak had stopped by 7:30 a.m., but 1,800 gallons had already spilled onto the roadway.
All northbound lanes were closed for the cleanup, and the Washington Patrol says it could be Thursday morning before they are reopened.
The driver of the tanker was uninjured, but was arrested for DUI.
