Steel Stampede vintage motorcycle race leaving Crooked River Ranch; new location not yet chosen
CROOKED RIVER RANCH, Ore. (KTVZ) --The Steel Stampede is leaving Crooked River Ranch, though it's not yet decided where the new location will be. The vintage motorcycle event, broken into a series of motor sport races, showcases bikes dating back to the 1940s.
Jason Koschnitzke, one of the race coordinators for the event, said he's almost certain the races will continue and that details will be fine-tuned in the coming weeks.
"To my understanding, the Board of Directors at Crooked River Ranch decided that is was no longer in their best interest or feasible for them to continue hosting the event," Koschnitzke said.
"Since we're leaving Crooked River Ranch, we are moving on to a new location," he said, "and so with that we have a lot of ground-zero stuff to start with: new location, track layout, development of the entire event, sponsors, vendors, insurance. It's a good list of things to do."
If all goes as planned, Koschnitzke expects the race to go in May as usual, for its 17th annual run.
